Pannal to Nether Kellet Pipeline Project

Risk assessment and environmental monitoring surveys

Location: Lancashire and Yorkshire, England
Client: National Grid
Contract Value: Undisclosed
Status: Ongoing

National Grid’s cross country pipeline network traverses thousands of miles of the British Countryside.

During construction works, the actual pipeline trench is a hazard to the source area of many private water wells, springs and boreholes which can supply from one isolated dwelling to large farms and dairies and in some cases villages.

Our role was to identify areas at risk, monitor the existing water supplies plan and install new water wells prior to construction taking place.

Some 24 wells were sunk with at least half of them becoming permanent features, due to the original supplies being affected by the pipeline.
