Arch Henderson was formed in 1919 to offer specialist services in the design of harbour works, coast protection and ship repair facilities. While this specialisation in marine civil engineering works has remained, the firm is now multi-disciplined, encompassing Architectural, Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Services. In addition we undertake the Principal Designer (formerly CDM-C) role on most of our projects. We operate throughout the UK and abroad with offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness, Southampton, Lerwick, Dundee, Thurso and Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands.

Although operating as a multi-discipline organisation, each individual discipline delivers their specific service autonomously. This is linked by a shared set of principles, administration and quality assurance procedures. Whilst we are able to offer our clients many advantages by providing all services on a project collectively, each area of expertise can operate independently and has built up their individual reputations on this basis. This reputation is further galvanised by our strength as one multi-discipline consultancy.

Arch Henderson places substantial emphasis upon quality, environmental and health and safety management and protecting the commercial interests and confidence of our clients. By maintaining this, and ensuring requirements are always met, our quality of service remains at a consistently high level and clients return to Arch Henderson to engage our services on a regular basis.

Arch Henderson has been responsible for the design, project management and delivery of projects throughout the UK, and further afield in Algeria, Qatar, Egypt and Finland. Our clients include major oil companies, offshore service companies, Ports and Harbour Authorities, Local Authorities and NHS Trusts. We offer design expertise in harbour and pier construction, vessel mooring and fendering, ship building and repair facilities, coast protection and marinas. Our architects have specialist knowledge of healthcare facilities, education buildings, commercial developments and ferry passenger terminals, as well as industrial and marine support buildings. Our environmental division offers expertise in ground investigation, contaminated land assessments, hydrogeological surveys and water quality investigations.

Our aim is to deliver a quality service across all of our disciplines, always recognising that our clients are our biggest asset.
